In a word, wow! But theres still a nagging feeling that the film could have at least gone through another rewrite before the cameras started to role. There is not much good to say about this movie, even Cordell reacts unnatural compared with MC 1 and 2, but it does have some neat fire stunts.

But there are things that bug me about the third sequel to Maniac Cop.

Having watched all three of these movies within days of each other, the conclusion is essentially that they should have left it with the campiness and cheesiness of the first movie. Maniac Cop is the type of movie that you would want to watch through the slits in a sewer grate, only its execution sits perched well above its scummy aim, and the end result is that you feel guilty for wishing for something more perverted. We see a voodoo priest resurrect the mental copper shortly before witnessing police officer Kate Sullivan gets killed during an armed robbery. After two decent movies made with the same director and writer you would think that this would be awesome like its predecessors, wrong! The Maniac Cop Matt Cordell takes an interest in Kate & starts to kill those wanting to switch off her life support...

So after the dissapointment of 2 I wasn't exactly thrilled to see a 3rd installment, but after hearing so many good reviews, I bought it, and let me tell you it was worth every penny. Katie doesn't know that the employee working in the pharmacy is Jessup's gal who picks up a revolver willing to kill the cop who had "saved her." Fans of the first two movies would be better to give it a miss and watch the underrated 'Uncle Sam' instead, a Lustig/Cohen collaboration which sank without a trace. A disappointing and lackluster entry in the MANIAC COP series. Action & Adventure, The film is subtitled 'Badge of Silence', but 'Bride of Maniac Cop' would be more appropriate, since that's the road that the second sequel has chosen to go down.
